3.4L Headgasket issues

My 97 4runner Limited 3.4L blew the headgasket today. I thought the 3.4L did not have this problem. Is this a common issue with the early 3.4L or did I just get a bad apple?

Theyre not known for it but anything can blow a head gasket

I've heard some of the early 3.4s did have a head gasket issue, but nowhere near what the 3.0 did.

That said, X2 that anything can blow a head gasket.
