3.4 swap iminent

So i found an engine (3.4) with only 5000 km's for 1500 Canadian. All in the engine is gonna cost me around 2000 with all the peripherals. Now, for those that have done the swap, and yes I've searched, what do i need partswise from the donor runner to complete this swap. Does anyone have a sort of laundry list of things i should grab out f the donor such as vsv's etc. I'll use the parts that i can off of my 3.0 of course and will probably get a wiring harness from painless or offroad, but if it isn't to hard i may meld the two harnesses. Any words of advice would be greatly appreciated as the swap will start within the next two weeks.

Thanks in advance

Steve

You'll need a bodylift to clear the intake plenum. I don't think it would be too hard to use the old engine wiring harness. It likely has 2 oxygen sensors as my '97 does. You can reuse your 3.0 oilpan to clear the front diff. For that you'll have to move the oilpickup in the oilpan. A guy on bc4x4 called Dave Gio (I think) as some information on the swap. He did it a while ago. Do a search on www.bc4x4.com.
Good luck, this is all I can think off.

I think you need a T100 (w/3.4) oilpan, IIRC. Dave Gio did a thread over on the wire also. If it isn't up, I think I copied it to my HDD at some point.

I heard somewhere that it was debatable whether you needed more than a 1" BL. (Most I've heard have said 2")

Do you have an auto or manual tranny?

Good luck on the engine swap. I'll be watching this thread. I am planning on doing the same thing except I have an (90) w/ automatic.

Hey Fever. Sorry for the hijack Babypig...

Can you post close up pics of how those Warn flares fit? Perhaps start a new thread? I know many are interested.

With my new wheels/tires, I've got a little tire outside of my bushwackers and it constantly coats the side of my rig with filth. I'm considering the Warns for the front at least - since they appear to offer more coverage.

Thanks.

i am in the process of this swap right now and you use the 3.0L oil pan. get the carbon canister and the complete wiring harness from the rig, all the way to the tranny and x-fer case. also get the airbox and piping. that is about all that i can think of right now. i am pretty much done with my swap, the last part i need to make it run and be finished is the wiring harness from ORS. if i ever learn how to post pics i could post a few fore you guys.

The starter and alt are no big deal, but the harness is a major one.
You don't want to have to create on from scratch or pay $600-700 to get one built.

What year is the engine? I just replace my '97 with a 2000 engine I have have a engine that needs some work (a knock & leaking headgasket) and a 2000 wiring harness without any cut wires. On one end it has the ecu plug (don't have Ecu) and it includes all the plugs for sensors on the block, the maf, and the oxygen sensors. The alternator circuit is separate, which is ok for you since you can use the origanal alternator and charging circuit. Then you'll just have to adapt a different pulley which I don't think will be to hard. I think I also have to 3.4 liter bracket for holding the alternator which probaly can be adapted for the 3.0 alternator.

The engine is a 2000. Hmmm, perhaps a deal can be struck.

Babypig and Arjan- any way you can let me know if one of those engines is left over? 1500 for one is a good price. I haven't been able to locate one very close.

As stated my engine needs work. I put an ad on a local board. I am selling this engine for $500 cdn. I am also open to offers if anybody needs parts. I am sure it can be fixed, I just couldn't afford the downtime.

I still have the engine, but now in pieces. I have an engine wiring harness from a 2000. They might have cut off the wires to the oxygen sensor when the removed the engine, but you could easily fit your current onto this harness.
You can have it for $50 + shipping if you'd like.
