3.4 conversions
Some have been asking lately about putting a 3.4 engine into the 2nd gen.

Look in the Showcase area.
They have a lot of cool stuff on that site including a monster '95 4Runner that will be a convertible in the back.

Being as I plan on having my 4Runner a long time... thats what I would consider. Swapping in a 3.4L if my 3.0 ever gaks. Lets get back to a question I asked Cebby a while back.
What is the difference between the 4runner 3.0 and the Camry 3.0?? I know the Camry eng. is transverse mounted, but arent they basically the same? Could you swap in a newer Camry 3.0? Are'nt they almost 200 horse stock? They make a supercharger for the Camry 3.0............... can you say BONSIA?

I have heard that the camrry engine is set horizontal, while the 4runner's is set up for a rear drive. If you can line up the engine mounts it wouldn't be a problem. I wonder existing tranny would work? If the same tranny was even used.

Hey all,
Here's a link of a write up somebody posted a while ago. The swap was done to an '86. He also added a S/C.

Just thought I'd post that for those that are interested.
Have fun all.
