3.0L V6 vs. 2.7L I4

Hey guys,
I'm looking at a couple of rigs and need your guy's expert opinion. I am looking into buying a 4runner to use as my daily driver as well as my mountain machine to pull a single snowmobile through the mountains. I've got a 95 4runner, 3.0 L V-6 with 96xxx miles on the block as well as a 98 SR5 with the 2.7 inline-4, with 106xxx mile. On paper these engines appear very comparable but i need your guy's knowledge and experience to help me with my decision. I am concerned over gas mileage as these prices continue to rise. Any input would be extremely appreciated as well as comments on personal experiences.

Cheers
Terry

thanks for the welcome guys. Elton you are correct, it is the 2.7. What kind of gas mileage to you get from your 3.4L if you don't mind me asking?

I'm really happy with my 2wd base model (they don't make SR5 4cyls here). I haven't towed with it, but it has no problem hauling 5 adults up and down hills. The 3.0 has more low end torque, but I'm really not a fan of the 3.0. They are known for blowing head gaskets and getting horrible mileage. The 2.7 has great torque for a 4 cyl and still gets great mileage. If I drive 65 on the freeway I will get 24 mpg. I usually drive 80mph on the freeway and I get 21mpg, its still great for a truck based SUV. Also, their is no timing belt to replace on the 2.7.
