3.0 V6 Headgasket campaign ...the Canadian Experience..
Just got my '91 Runner back from the dealership with the new head gaskets. Things with the dealer (Russel Toyota) went really well, after they initially tried the Denial route...didn't know a thing about the campaign, thought it expired last year, etc...
Two hours later the service tech calls back...all is covered under V06. Inspection didn't show any related damage, so no long block. Hey, I'm just happy to get my timing re-set to spec!
while they were in there I got new pullies for the idler and tensioner, a new timing belt and that PITA PCV for less than $500 CDN (380 US)
All of this (less parts above) covered under the campaign, on a 3.0 3VZE from a DONATED engine out of a 1990, to the fourth owner of a truck with 200,000 kms (120,000 miles) on it.
Toyota I love what you do for me!
Whole job would have been done in less than a day, but parts had to be ordered, over the weekend. No rental under the program.
Over all, I'm glad I waited to have it done (owned it 10 months now) and also glad I recognized the symptoms early (Thanks Yotatech!). Just wish I got a new long block, but hey I like that nice engine feel again!
Any suggestions on what to look for in the first 3000 miles?
Should I expect any extra oil or coolant loss?
Anything need to be re-torqued after x miles?
