On my 5-speed second gen, just come to a stop, shift into 4Hi, then into 4Lo. If you're moving, you're gonna grind gears. If ya can't find 'em, grind 'em.

there isnt a way on a stock case to shift into 2wd low range, but i think marlin is making a twinstick kit for this so you can chose 2hi 2 low 4hi 4 low.... not really a benifit to have unless you have front lockers and its hard to turn on the trails.

do you have ADD or manual locking hubs. if manual i say just dont lock them and kick it into 4Lo. Front drivetrain wont turn = 2Lo. If ADD, i say SOL

For 3rd gens with the pushbutton transfer case selector, I believe there is a 2Low mod which included disconnection a single socket. Do you even have a 3rd gen?

EDIT: Locking hubs..no 3rd gen...ignore me.

Oops...my bad, Bayrunner. Misunderstood your post. My question would be, why do you want 2wdLo? Pulling stumps, towing friends or something? You have to come to a complete stop to get into Low range, although you can go from low range to high range without stopping.

And if you want to use it, just for a couple of special instances, like mentioned above, you can go ahead and use 4Lo for short distances and only in a straight line. I have...pulling stumps, etc. But I have to emphasize, you can (should) only do it in a straight line. Turning your wheels, even a small amount, will bind the drive train and put a lot of stress on everything from the tranny to the diffs.

If you do bind it, it will be difficult to get out of 4wd Lo or Hi...In that case, you just back up, following the same line you originally took, while trying to shift the transfer case into 2wd.

Again, short distances, don't turn your wheels, and I wouldn't really make a habit of doing it. But it does work like a charm.
