Hi all,

I have a 1997 Tacoma that has approx 149 thousand miles on it. I checked the valve clearance and the exhaust valve's are tight and I need shims. I searched here on the forum and found that Cylinder head supply sells a kit that has all sizes so that when I pull a shim and measure I should be able to pick the correct size to replace with. I have the tools to hold the lifter down and replace just needing a little help.

My problem is that I called Cylinder head supply and they need the diameter of the shim to give me the correct size. Anyone happen to know what the diameter of the shims that go into a 97 2RZFE? Since there have been changes to different years I didn't want to guess and I was trying to order without tearing off the valve cover to try to measure the shim. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Bumpty... Any ideas? anyone? I am thinking 34mm but not sure. Plz someone has to know this one. It would save a ton of time taking everything apart then have to wait a day or two for the shims. thanks again

4 a 2RZFE the shim size 28mm. U would think that someone would have known this. I called 2 Toyota dealers and they wouldn't give me specs either. So I took off my valve cover wasted and hour ordered the parts from cylinder head supply and ended up having 1 exhaust on the tight side and 3 on the intake side tight. My engine is now a happy camper. Just a thought thou I wonder how many people just run this motor till it eats a valve.. LOL I prolly don't wanna know. peace..

Thanks for the very direct and I am only going to assume at this point a very real and tried and true answer and analysis on what the diameter of a 2rzfe engine valve shim is..
I have a 95 tacoma, called the taco truck on a count of the emblem on the tailgate that just reads taco, with 243000 mi never had a valve adjustment. I just want to buy a kit and knock her out on a weekend, shes my daily you know.
Anyhow I have searched and searched and havent been willing to tear my daily down to find out the shim diameter to order new ones.
