OK, I am planning to go for a second set of sneakers for winter. I have been swapping tire/wheel sets every spring/fall for years on both earlier 4wd rides, and am a firm believer in specific tires for the season, especially with upstate NY winters. The Bridgestone Dueler H/Ts came installed (265/65R17) on the alloy wheels, and so far I like them for everyday. I am looking real hard at the Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVOs, but don't want to put a 'looker' set of alloys on for winter driving with the salt they use on the roads up here. So I am looking at getting a set of stock '03 wheels for winter. I am thinking that with the 16" stock wheels and a set of 265/70R16s I shouldn't see any significant change in ride height or speedometer readings. I know the prevailing thought is 'bigger' is better, but I don't do any radical 'rocking'. I make the occasional hunting trip and stick to logging roads and fields. My biggest obstacles are snow and mud, so I don't want to get too agressive with tire selection.

Any thoughts or opinions on the REVOs for this type of use?

Well, I found a place in Ohio that has brand 'new' '03 factory steel wheels for $60 each with shipping included. They are new vehicle 'take-offs' according to the site. Sure beats the $165 the 'stealer' quoted me. And according to my local tire sources, the 265/70R16 REVOs are on back-order nation wide. So I ordered a set of 275's. They should be in by Friday. I can't wait to see what they look like.
