2nd Gen yota 0-60 times...

Ok I know that this vehicle is NOT intended to haul ass, but rather to drive over things slowly - hence 4x4.

However, I would like to konw what other 2nd gens close to stock are doing so I have a power comparision to see how much mine has lost relative to the rest.

Basically tell me:

1. performance mods
2. tire size
3. recent maintainance
4. time (0-60 and 1/4 mile time if you have it)

I'll start:

1. FIPK, 2.25" cat back, free flow cat, denso double platinums
2. 225 75 r 15 (BFG A/T ko <--------- I love those tires )
3. Replaced cap, rotor, wires, ingnitor wire, and plugs <500 miles ago.
4. My 0-60 @ sea level @ 75 degrees is about 14.7 seconds.

1. performance mods

Pulled the stock engine and added a turbine jet

2. tire size

22" rims with those very skimpy tires

3. recent maintainance

none

4. time (0-60 and 1/4 mile time if you have it)

not sure it flew away on me........

well I don't have all that extra weight of a 4 runner but do have the 3.0 with a 5spd.

last year before I had anything done that needed to be done to the engine... (it needed a tune up, timing belt, and new clutch and t-stat.)

I would race my friend with a 96 buick skylark, which does 0 to 60 in 9.8 seconds. I'd pull a car length or more in front of him so I guess my 0 to 60 time is somewhere around 9.5 or a bit lower. I had a K&N drop in filter and 2.25" cat back exhaust with a straight through design turbo muffler and 31" tires.

Man, you're pretty ballsy.
I won't race anything newer than 1954.

Seriously though...Sorry, but I don't care about 0-60 for my 2nd gen. I rarely drive it like that cause the old girl has 212K on her and I'm happy as a puppy with 2 peters that she hasn't blown a headgasket or thrown a rod. I keep my revs below 4500 when I'm in a hurry and under 3000 when I'm not. She'll last a lot longer that way.

I beat a girl on 10 speed once. She demanded a rematch and I thought I might pushing my luck a little, so I declined.

Seriously though, I have no idea what my 2nd Gen would do in 0-60 or 1/4 mile. I know it's slow, but I don't care. I have other things to drive ot ride if I want to go fast. But they won't go where the 4Runner goes.

My 90 4 Runner auto 3.0 goes 0-60 in 13.5 seconds.

My mods are:

1 DOA ported and polished heads,
2 DOA cams,
3 full top end rebuild with cleaned and rebuilt injectors and intake manifold.
4 Full 2.5" exhaust from the downpipe back including a free flow cat and a dynomax muffler.
5 30" Revos but still geared for 28"

I made sure to adjust the speed to make up for the tire size difference from stock.

0-60 = about a mile and a half (level ground), about a mile going down hill.

Oh I have 33s with 4:56 gears.

I think my old 88 4runner with a 22RE, 4:10 gears, 5sp and 31x12.50 Boggers was faster and had better MPG

damn... you guys really mock the 3.0

As a reply to the post, I tried it today on the way back from work. Safely shifting at around 4500 (I don't like pushing my runner much more past that) If I really wanted to I could take that time off by two or three seconds, I just don't want to try and be ballsy and hurt her.

1. performance mods
none
2. tire size
31X10.5-15 (Stock Size) Bridgestone REVOS
3. recent maintainance
About a week ago. Fuel pump, water pump, oil change, timing belt, hoses, lubricated the joints, new brake pads, new tires, alignment of tires, spark plugs, spark plug wires, flush, and several diagnostics.
4. time (0-60 and 1/4 mile time if you have it)
0-60 in 17.56 seconds, and I forgot about the 1/4 mile.
(again, this was at a safe and slow 4.5k rpm)

To all those that say 3.slow, just buy another car. If you want speed, buy a sports car. If you want a fast SUV, buy a cayenne or a toureg or supercharge a new V8 runner. Now, some might respond, "Well, i don't have the money" well, then deal with having a slow and amazing car. I drive 30 minutes to work everyday and the only thing I can say about it is that the acceleration isn't great, but understandably. I still manage to get to work everyday in decent time.

I saw a 93-95ish truck at the track one time with a 3.slo and he was pullin 18's on 1/4 mile. I asked him what he had done to it and he just said exhaust.

There clock must of been rigged or something. 18 seemed pretty fast. haha
