2nd gen roof rack question.
I have a Yakima rack system on the way, it's the kind that clips into the door jams and sits way towards the front of the 4runner.
I bought it for the purpose of mounting kayaks, but I want to know if it is possible to strap a canoe on there?
I can't visualize it. I would think the tip of the canoe would be stabbing the rear part of the roof.
Anyone do this / have photos of it?

probably depends on how long the canoe is...i use mine for biking however i imagine it would certainly be longer than the roof of your runner. a guy around town used to put a canoe on his 2nd gen and it fit fine...i dont think you should have any worries

Yea a canoe will be fine. I have a yakima rack on my 2nd gen that uses the Q-towers that clip inside the door, and it is very strong. I have put everything up there without a problem. Canoes, 2 kayaks, multiple surfboards, bikes, wood, mattresses, tables, rugs, heck I have even stood on it. Just about everything without any problems.
I never had any problems with the back of the canoes or kayaks hitting the rear of the truck. You will just have too position the canoe evenly on the rack, so equal amounts will be forward and back.
