2nd Gen RNR CD connector

Wanting to connect a CD changer in '95 4rnr with AM/FM cass set for CD changer. Best Buy guy said store CD players do not have correct connector. The Toy dealer wants $600 for a changer. Anybody have a cheaper solution? Where did you install? Recommend any speaker changes, but I am not a power head. Thanks for any input...

Just found this forum and it looks great!!!!!

The $600 you'd have to spend on the factory CD changer would buy a much nicer aftermarket head unit and CD changer. I'd skip the dealer. if you really want to retain the factory head unit, you could buy one of the "universal" CD changers that use an FM modulator. The sound quality wouldn't be as good, and you wouldn't actually use the built in CD controls of your factory system, but you wouldn't need to replace the head unit.

Crutchfield has several FM modulated changers listed here:

Personally, I'd replace the head unit with a decent aftermarket CD player with CD controls, and get the changer that goes with it.
