2nd gen rear shock removal tip...

Not sure on what your patience is like but mine was running out trying to remove the upper nut on my 170k rear shocks.

Seems 13 years of rust and alt had done a number on the thread and even with a strap wrench holding the shock body, progress was painful to the point of negligible.

Seems if you disconnect the lower mount and strap the shock to the axle with a bungee in a more vertical position than when they are installed, a Sawzall fits in there nicely.

Just make sure you aim ABOVE the cupped steel washer that supports the upper bushing and you can remove your rear shocks in under 3 mins per side.
If you cut it off below there, a large weld will not allow whats left of the upper mount to pass back through the hole in the frame.

After fussing with the DS for 20 mins, I had both off in another 5 mins once I got the right 'wrench'
