2nd gen. head gasket recall
Hi everyone,
I've got a question about this 2nd gen. 4Runner head gasket recall thing I keep hearing about...what are the requirements? Do I have to be an original owner? I have a 91 4Runner 2WD V6.
Thanks,
Happy New Year

Since it's holidays and Stealerships are closed, I've just decided to get some more info. I've done a search on this site and found this:
http://www.brian894x4.com/V6headgasketdoc2.html
Does it mean that I'm too late, cuz my truck is older than 8 y/o??? I have 99K on it.

Here is the Toyota case line #(800) 331-4331.
They will tell you if your truck is part of the recall or if it has already been done by a PO they will tell you that too.
One little tip when reading the letters in your vin# over the phone say Victor instead of "V", David instead of "D" etc.
I think it has a 10 year cut-off, but there are some exceptions and no you don't have to be the original owner.

I called them and they were more than happy to contact my local dealership for me and make an appointment!!! I'm getting my recall parts fixed tomorrow!!!
Do you guys know if it's gonna help the performance of my truck?

Nope, the 3.0 is just slow.
Anyway, if you haven't done it already you might want to have a couple things done while they have it apart. That way you save on labor for when they go out. Definately get the timing belt and the waterpump replaced.
Timing belts are recommended to be replaced every 60k.
