Right now I am using an external speaker on the back console for my CBs output for in the cab.

My stock dash speakers are still up front and not being used.
Has anyone ever hooked their CB up to these before?

If so, do you take the + & - from each speaker and wire them together for the plug, or do you connect + & - together from the right & left speaker for the plug as in series?

I am thinking this might sound much better than the one behind me.

Just connect the + & - from each speaker and connect that to the external plug on the cb.

You need to know what ohm the speakers are - both the external speaker currently connected, and the ohms of the dash speakers. This will determine whether you wire the speakers in parallel or series as you described. Wiring in parallel creates a greater load (lower ohms - 2-4ohm speakers in parallel = 2 ohm load). Wiring in series does the opposite (2-4ohm in series = 8 ohms). You can always run higher ohm, it just won't be very loud. Sometimes low ohms cause amplifiers to shut down...

I agree with you, I think you'll hear the CB much better by using speakers up front.

Thanks guy's, and I always get my series & parallel mixed up since I don't deal with it on a daily basis.

If memory serves me right, in this crude drawing I just made, the parellel would be on the left, and the series on the right.
Correct?

if you take one of the speakers out the generally print the ohms on the back of the basket/magnet , i dont think toyotas have much for way of a speaker set up so you can almost gaursntee they are 4 ohm or lower , if worse comes to worse , use jsut one speaker , preferably the closest one to you while driving .

Ok, your close, but your series is a little off ~~

Series you would take (+) from your source to the (+) on speaker A, the (-) on speaker A to the (+) on speaker B, then the (-) on speaker B to the (-) from your source. I hope that makes sense, its kind of late, but I should be able to wire that in my sleep by now!

Aye, that's right.
Then the negative from the right speaker is the one that goes by itself to the black wire in the lead to the CB.

I'll have to re do another drawing later to keep on hand.

Now all I need is some good weather instead of this H2O stuff, and hit up Radio Shack for a mini plug.
I don't want to cut the plug I have now just in case these end up not sounding as good as the rear speaker I'm using now.

But heck, those speakers up front are doing nothing right now, might as well put them too use.
