2nd Gen Airbox Mod

ok guys..today i pulled out the thing between the box and the headlight...and i am about to drill holes in the box. i was just wondering what drill bit i should use and if i have to take the box outta the rig to drill the holes? thanks guys

Use whatever size you want. I drilled the holes in my airbox with it still in the truck.

I did that too. I even made some tiny marks in the metal behind the airbox so I unbolted it and coated it with a thick wax to prevent rust. I'll probably clean it up and shoot some spray paint on it some day. Do yourself a favor and undo the 3 bolts that hold the airbox in.

yeah its getting wild around here!! ok so now that some people have had time to test the mod out..whats the pros and cons of this mod? better performance or what?

I think the consensus is that it improves midrange power a little and that is sounds cool. I had done that mod to my 87 Celica GTS and noticed the same thing. I went right for the FIPK in the Runner.

well guys i too now have some holes in my air box. i did it tonight and it only took about 20 minutes to do. i took my airbox out thought. i havent driven it yet..but i will post later and tell you guys what i think.
