2nd Gen 4Runner Front Frame Damage

Hello all,

Yesterday I got stuck in a mud hole. I was unable to get out of there, I was alone and had to call a friend to rescue me.

Finally he found me and towed me backwards out of the hole.

When I jump out of the truck I noticed my truck was taller than before… I was surprised because I was in level ground.

Then, I went to the front of the truck and noticed that my skidplate hammered in the mud and when I was towed it acted like a shovel, tearing out the lower nuts and bolts (The IFS crossmember ones) and later, bended and deformed the skidplate, tearing out the front frame nuts and bolts.

So I have the front frame quite damaged now…

I’ve seen that Offroad Solutions sell a HD Front Frame Brace Kit, but I think that it has not new nuts… Am I right?

What can I do to solve that damage?

I will post pics later when I arrive home.

Thanks,

David

I doubt you damaged the frame because the skip plate is pretty flimsy. My skip plate bolts got stripped by normal useage. I would just retap the holes and use larger bolts.

My skidplate was bolted different to yours because my Toy is diesel and the radiator is lower than the frame brace like the V6.

Look at that...

Also my mechanic has called me... He was going to put in my new Aussie Locker in front diff, but I've 3 ring gear tooth broken and also the pinion is damaged...

This is not my best week for my truck... I'm sure that if I replace them I'll broke a CV or something simillar... I've very bad luck... And less money...

Have you ever cryed for your truck? I have

Sad,

David

How is that possible? Taller than before...?

I suggest that you´d just weld new nuts to the front frame. Easy and clean job.

I just started to wonder that I think those holes are empty in my Runner (I had to go and check it), and yes, the skidplate is bolted in different way.

Then I found this:
You have made your own design of it.

My sympathy is with your situation. Get by it.
