2nd Gen--120k Mi Service
I am going to pass on the $600 proctological exam from the stealership and do the 120k mile service myself. I am going pretty much OEM--coolant, distributor cap, plugs, wires, rotors, timing belt, etc; but wanted to get input from you 2nd Gen gurus on fluid choice for diffs, tranny and transfer case...any preferences with regard to manufactures, products, etc.
Cheers
Thanks,
Weldon

Hey there,
As far as fluids go in my diffs and transfer case, I use either Coastal or Valvoline (which ever they have stocked up at Auto Zone at the time) gear oil in my diffs and transfer case. I use 75w-90 in both my diffs and transfer case.
Check to be sure, but if you have an auto tranny, you may take ATF fluid in your transfer case (I can't remeber for sure).
I don't mind use non-synthetic since I change my fluids every 20K miles or so.

600 bucks, did you ask them what that included cause 120k service should cost the same as the 30k service plus a few things
Most small shops if they still excist will probably do they services you need for little more than cost of parts

Same as CTB for me. If you have an auto you take 1.1 qts of tranny fluid in the transfer case. I used Semi-Synth last time. Many people here Love Amsoil and Mobil 1, and I don't think you could go wrong with either-oils, greases or ATF.
