Does that stuff really work? and is that the brand?

I have a 87 4Runner and replaced my engine last week and did my timing chain this week. I dont have the distributor down stat yet but I in general have heard a little tap from my 22RE's I have owned. I want to know is this common. This one is quieter but my previous engine had a louder hissing tap that eventually blew my engine I believe, Havent diagnosed it yet, thought it was valves but the crank sounded bad in the end.

I was jw if anyone can confirm they also have this tap and if it is really bad?

seafoam is awesome stuff

all toyotas have that tap, especially the 4 cylinder 22r based ones... mine has it too..... its the valves..... most older cars in general have some sort of tap to them...

do a search on sea foam. there is a recent post about ten pages long with people ranting and raving how great it is. Very little negative feed back. Yes that is the name brand. I got some at car quest for 5 buck a can. Careful I heard of some people damaging their engine (throwing a rod) by sucking too much in at once. It worked great for me and it is cheap.

Or what are the differnces?

How does one get sea foam into the 22RE, through what tube?

Also I have seen ads for RESTORE. Is that stuff any good?

I've used the "Engine Restore" and like it. It really seems to do like it says. Seems to run a little more evenly. A couple of my buddies have used it and say they notice a difference.

Start on the first page and read the entire thread CAREFULLY before you ask any questions. Most should already have been answered.
