I did search and it is just mentioned as a 2.7L.
I was wondering if it is the same "block", I want to know if it uses the same bellhousing as a 22re uses. Or if they are atleast compatible.
I am looking to do an engine swap and the bellhousing I am looking into is compatible with the 22re.
If the 2.7L is the same block or has the same bellhousing bolt pattern than I can utilize the 3 generation 2.7L transmission.
I want to do the swap into a 3 generation 4runner.

AFAIK the 22RE and 3RZ (2.7L used from 1995 to 2005) have different motor bolt patterns - or alot of things would be alot easier...
The 3RZ is becoming a popular swap/upgrade for the 22RE
The 3RZ used an W series tranny and thus the 3RZ bell will bolt to a 22RE's W56 transmission
reading between the lines - you want to swap a 2L series diesel into a 3rd gen 4Runner chassis?
If there is such a thing as a 2.7L 4cyl MANUAL 4Runner - then you could use the 22RE bell to mate the W (I think its a W59) series trans to the 2LT

Based on the other thread - just get any MANUAL 3rd Gen 4Runner and make a custom transfer cross member as necessary its not that hard.
Use the 2LT motor, the 22RE bell, an a 2.7L taco manual trans and transfer (that will give you the drivers side drop..)
Hmmm - gas tank and fuel lines are already on the "correct" side for this swap....
This is getting interesting...
