22r question.

I have an 87 22r and am thinking on buying a 85 truck that needs a head. I just had my head rebuilt, Will the 87 22r head fit on the 85 22r head with no problems? thanks

Yup.

You'll need new head studs, though. And gaskets.

There was a slight engine redesign to the 22r around '85. The block in the 'new' model is 1" taller and the exhaust ports are pear shaped. Once you have the exhaust manifold off it will be obvious if the head will bolt right up. May as well check to state of the timing chain guilds while your there. DOA racing has some metal backed guide that don't shatter like the aftermarket and OEM ones.
Good luck and happy wrenching

That change in the block deck height was for '85 trucks and newer. 84 and older have the different block and two row timing chain.
