22R carb on a 20R Motor.. doable?

If the problem that I posted about my truck having is in my carb and I need to get a new one; Should I get a 22R carb and adapt it to my motor? Is this a good and proven idea? How do I go about it? What will I need and what do I do with all the vacuum hoses? Any help from experienced people would be appreciated. Thanks!

Pete

just get the carb for your truck, from what i hear, the one on the 22r is much higher flow and with otehr things not calibrated for that, will cause problems...

i have a 22R carb on my 20R/22R hybrid. the only problem it has is the fact that the carb ran very lean, even on a straight 22R. i blame that on a shoddy rebuild, or some other external factor. i'm going to replace it with a weber, but only because i can't really tune this one.

to put one on a 20R manifold, you'll need to buy an adapter plate from LC engineering. last i checked it was under $30. also, you'll have to run a piece of heater hose from the water choke port on the manifold to the bypass on the back of the timing cover(look at your 20R carb's choke housing, what you're doing is just taking the carb out and bridging these hoses together). the 22R carb uses an electric choke, so you'll want to run the red wire to a switched power source(igniter box works). also, you'll need to rig up the idle solenoid, which has a white/black wire and a black wire, one goes to ground(i think white/black) and the other to the switched power source.
