2004 Tacoma Brake Questions

Hello everyone. First post and YES I have searched.

I am looking for good information regarding checking and possibly replacing the brakes on my truck (front and back). My front brakes just started squeeking a bit so i know i need to check the pads at a bare minimum, however i haven't been able to track down a service manual.

Any good links relating to the specifics? pad thickness, replacement (step by step and pics would be great), etc. How about the rear drums?

I have tracked down some info over at 4x4wire but having never done brakes before it is still a bit foggy. Anyone get their brakes done professionally? what did that set you back?

Thanks for any info. Sorry if i missed something in my searching.

FSM for a 2003 Tacoma...same thing.

Front brakes are easy. Just slide out the pads after taking out the retaining springs and back off the caliper pistons a touch by pressing them in with a screwdriver.

Rears are a pain, drum brakes. Slide off the drum, remove the retaining SPRINGS and try your best at not jumping off the nearest cliff. Id recommend getting the correct tools to do the drums and you should be decent
