stereo ?
Which would make a better improvement? Running the factory head unit with aftermarket speakers or running the factory speakers with an aftermarket head unit?
Also has anybody put XM Radio into their 1993 4Runner? I had a Sony XM Radio unit in my old car, but I am not exactly sure where to put it in the 4Runner.

aftermarket haedunit with factory speakers would make the biggest improvement
why are you talking about a 1993?? did you mean 2003?
if you get an aftermarket headunit get an alpine and you can run it through that. then you dont need to decide where you put it. all you will need to purchase is the xm tuner and an antenae you wont need a secondary display.
