Ok so a while back my wife's 2002 4Runner was stuck in 4wd with the differential light flashing on the dash. Immediately I went to this site and reasoned that it is probably one of the two sensors on the differential. After trying to purchase the sensors at local repair shops (unsuccessfully) I caved and took the 4runner to the dealership. After diagnostics they told me that they would have to repair the front differential actuator. I asked several times about the sensors, they claimed that they looked at them and they were fine. I approved the repair. After the actuator was replaced, low and behold they still could not get the truck out of 4wd. After replacing the rear differential switch the truck would finally switch in and out of 4wd. I told them I wanted the old actuator, which they gave me. They agreed that if I could proved that the actuator is good they would refund my money. I just don't know which pins to apply the 12v current to. I have taken a picture. Can someone tell me which pins to apply the current? I think it's pins 2 and 3, I just don't know from which side to count. Thanks!

Was that attachment from the actual Toyota manual? The dealership claimed that Toyota's service manual doesn't have a step from testing the actuator?

Do you know anybody with a similar model? You should be able to go under the truck, plug it in, and have somebody hit the four wheel drive switch and it'll slide the fork back and forth if the actuator is working. Heck, the dealer may have a model on the lot that would work if they'll play along.
