2002 4Runner 4X4 Trans leak
I just returned from a 2000 mile trip with my 'Runner that has 210K. Prior to my trip the vehicle had no leaks. I noticed that it now drips, not every day but most, about a 1/2 teaspoon of trans oil from somewhere above where the two skid plates overlap down the left side of the oil pan. I can't see up in there to pinpoint the leak. Any ideas? If my trans was too full of fluid is there an overflow that the excess would blow out of?
The second issue I have is that in the last 25K (I bought the car with 184K) the trans (or rear diff, or driveshaft, or U-joints) has began to lightly "clunk" as the car slows and downshifts into the lowest gear. Any ideas what could be causing that noise.
Thanks for this site and all the wonderful info!
Phil

OK...I didn't know that. The leak is odd...it's feels like ATF but also like coolant. No milkshake observed in the radiator. I started up this AM and drove around the block. I had to return home to get something and in 15 min parked it leaked about 2 tablespoons on the floor. Drove to church...nothing leaked there and back home. I'll go check in a few minutes.
Thanks
Thanks
