2001 4Runner sputters between 50 - 60 mph
My 2001 4Runner sputters at 50 - 60 mph if I accelerate at a normal rate. If I reduce my rate of acceleration I can get by with no sputtering. My CEL is on and Autozone reader gave some type of emissions code. Initially, I was thinking the fuel filter may need replacing (it's never been) but now that I saw the emissions code I was thinking it may need a new catalytic converter. I've got 164K miles on it. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I looked under the truck yesterday and saw there are 2 converters. One looked easy to get to; the other not so much. If cat converter is the cause, any particular brand that I should go with?

Get the actual OBDII code and go from there. And be aware that the code is often related to the item that is reporting the issue, but it may not be the cause of the issue. I.e. catalytic converter codes can be related to the MAF, leaks in the intake, bad injectors, etc.
