2001 4Runner muffler

2001 4Runner muffler
I have an '01 4Runner and my muffler is rusted out by the pipes are still good. I would like to just buy something to bolt or weld in place without buying a complete exhaust. I really don't want anything loud, I looked up Borla but they don't even make anything for 4Runners newer than 2000. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

well, u could take it to your local muffler shop and ask them to replace the muffler with a stock muffler, or u could ask them for suggestions on just the muffler, or go flowmaster or gibson.
btw, when i got my new muffler on my old truck, it was like 5 dollars more to have them replace the tail pipe too. looked cleaner. just my 2 cents

Stock Toyota mufflers run about $350 installed at the stealerships. Go to a local shop and have a lifetime muffler installed for less than half of that. That way, if it rusts out again, you're covered. Definitely spring for a new tailpipe!
I went with the Jardine catback system for my '02, but it's probably a little loud for your tastes. There are other options out there too and the local shop should have plenty of info.

I just actually had my muffler rust out and after a bit of reading and comtemplating I went with a magnaflow 12286 24" muffler. It's perfect. Not too loud but has a low rumble. At idle you don't really notice it and under acceleration it has a real low tone. I'm happy with it

One of the problems with Borla, is that they do mostly stuff for vehicles with manual transmissions. Don't ask me why, but I guess they are easier for them to work with....I guess. Magnaflow, or Flowmaster would probably be the way to go, If you're looking for any sort of a deal. Good luck.
