Question 2001 3.4 Tacoma w/Rough Idle

OK, so here's the story. I just bought a 2001 Tacoma with the 3.4 V6 and I have since seafoamed it twice with great results, and I have changed the oil with Mobil 1. I also cleaned the MAF and throttle body, but since I picked it up it has had a rough idle only when in gear. It has 56,XXX miles and I don't have any service records for it. Would it be possible that the spark plugs would need to be replaced?

Any input would be great.

Thanks!

Jesse

Reset the computer, check your plug wires, replace plugs, replace fuel filter and air filter. All of these are inexpensive . Also forget about Seafoam and use Techtron,Seafoam is cheaper and it works but no where near as well as Techtron in the gas tank every now and then.
Did all this to my 01, 2.7 at around 60,000 and it runs like new to this day and it's real close to 80,000.
Are you running stick or auto? Not quite sure about the rough idle in gear but I have no doubt that someone on here knows what the problem is. Mike

Spark plugs (stock ones) needs to be replaced every 30K. So I would do that for sure.

Have you checked to see if it's throwing a code? Go out late tonight and raise the hood, see if you can see any sparks anywhere from bad plug wires or any bad wireing.

I have seen if it is posting a code, but I thought it would have the check engine light on if it was doing that. Am I wrong?

Make sure all vacuum hoses around the throttle body are connected securely. This is a common reason for your symptoms.

No, your light will not always come on.When there is a problem it's time to check it.
I really thought you would get more replies by now from some of these guy's who know a whole lot more than I about this kind of problem. Mike

I think there are 2 threads going on at the same time for this issue:
