2000 Limited Alarm related questions

Hello,

So I've spent about 6 hours doing my research and need some input. I've got a 2000 Limited w/ the FACTORY installed Alarm (used in connection with key immobilizer and keyless entry), not the RS3200/RS3200+ that is the Port or Dealer installed accessory. This alarm was apparently an addition to the stock specs for the 2000 Limiteds (maybe 99, 01-02 as well). Well, it seems that this particular alarm, has some limitations.

The issue with this system is that it does not light the interior dome lights when you unlock/disarm the car (though I believe later 2000s+ 4Runners did do this) and it doesn't lock the doors when you start the car and unlock it when you turn it off. These are 2 very important features that I'd really like to have.

So, would it be possible to install something like the RS3200/RS3200+ on 4Runner that already has the FACTORY installed alarm?

Is there a new version of this FACTORY installed alarm ECU that has these features, which I could just swap?

Is there any modification/addition that I can do w/ the existing alarm that would allow for these features (I know this particular FACTORY alarm does not have a way to program this at all, so I'm thinking it would be an aftermarket module), though for the alarm itself, I really want to stick with OEM.

Thanks in advance for all your input!

I just finished installing an aftermarket alarm myself, and if you get creative enough, you could adapt the current alarm that you have to trigger the dome lights to come on. It would just involve getting a little creative with some relays and doing your own wiring into the dome light control.

A system that comes to mind involves a timer circuit and a relay triggered by the factory disarm wire.

Btw - my new rig is a 2000 and doesnt have the interior lighting with the factory alarm

That's what I was beginning to think. It seems like DEI sells some pulse timer relays that might do the job.

I do think though that the RS3200+ does do the auto lock/unlock (though DEI sells a module for that too, 428), but having it part of the alarm would be preferrable. If I can get that part working, then the courtesy lights I can work on secondarily.
