2000 4Runner Sr5 idle issues

Hi all,

For the last couple months or so I've noticed when sitting at idle in drive my idle rpms seems to drop below 600 right near 500 and the truck gets slightly rough...nothing major like it will stall out...I can just feel a slight surging. I figured this was due to the rpms dropping to a level that is lower than it should be.

Truck still runs great and on highway trips I'm getting 320+ miles on a tank and around 21+mpg.

I have just about 180K miles on the truck, timing belt has about 98K miles on it...planning to get that changed soon. New plugs and wires around 15K miles ago. Coil packs may be original, I've never changed them in the almost 100K miles of ownership.

Should I be worried about anything or just leave it be?

Thanks for the thoughts!

I've never had the problem on my 4runner, but I had to keep adjusting my idle screw on my 22re pick-up to keep the rpms up at 800. Then I cleaned my thottle body and my idle rpm's shot up to 2500 and I had to turn the idle screw back down. Moral of the story is that cleaning your throttle body might help things out.
