2000 4runner Special Edition?

Hey guys, I'm about to purchase another 4runner and have found a 2000 that is a "special edition". The wheels are slightly different from the normal sr5 (have notches inbetween the spokes, and the centercap is metal and it has a figure 8 (mathmatical infinity symbol) on the centercaps) Apparantly its from a factory in the south, and there wasnt that many of them made...can someone tell me more about what it consists of? Thanks!

Looks like a base model 4runner. 15" wheels, no sunroof, no Highlander packge.
Does it have 4wd?

There are tens, if not hundreds of thousands of Toyota 4Runners and Tacomas out there with those split-spoke wheels. I personally prefer the five spoke 16" wheel to these, but it's not my opinion that matters most...

No they did not come from the factory.

its possible they were a dealer add-on, or added by the previous owner. But they are not Factory by any stretch. They are Knockoffs of the Factory rims.

yes I know but these are different from most of the regular three spoke split wheels you see...they have the notches between the spokes and different centercaps...

Close....

There are thousands with SIMILAR wheels, but those are not factory wheels. Factory alloy wheels use Shank lugnuts and a removable center cap. Those wheels use Acorn lugs and the center cap doesn't need to be removed.

Wuttinup: I would inquire as to what makes it a "special edition" as Toyota never built any such vehicle.

I figured it out these wheels are not from the factory but were put on by the distributor as an option you can order from the dealership...reg alloys were like 220 and these were listed at like 650. I guess just not that many people ordered these rims but they came on 4runners when purchased new from dealerships...

heres a thread that explains it

Enkei wheels are not a "knock off" of the Toyota wheel. Toyota teemed up with Enkei to offer an upgrade "enkei wheel package" to customers puchasing new trucks. They designed the wheel to look similar to the toyota wheel but ultimately better looking. And yes, they do come from the factory.
