4runner

For all of you with 20's, how much should I drop the 2000 4runner. 1 inch or 2?
Pictures would be nice
Also what is a reliable brand of springs?

I would go for 2" although I don't have dubs yet.Thats were I would go.Havent researched on any springs m/b someone on the board could help you more on that.Just cover the gap in the well it will look nicer so thats why I chose the 2" drop

I lowered my 2000 SR5 3 inches using Elford springs from Japan. I had to order directly through Elford, but I think it was worth it.

dope4Runner, thats a dope 4runner. i'm gonna get 20s on mine also and drop it 2-3 inches. it looks like you could drop it more. yea i think elfords are good.

i was thinking of zenettis or tezzens, with a 2-3 inch lip. what size tires do you have on yours? i just went to discount tires they said 285/55 20 will fit.

ok why would you lower an suv? Seriously. Not tryin to rag on anybody, but I just don't understand why you would buy an suv and lower it.

Nice rides. I think I'll drop it 2 inches. That's just enough where it will cover the gap, but won't look too short in my opinion. Is there any need to change the shocks? because that could get expensive. But I do want the truck to last for many years. I don't know if the shocks or height adjustment is different but I have a 2000 4runner Limited 4WD.

I know what you are saying---its not my cup of tea either.

I've seen some really obscene examples of dropped SUVs. Trust me, you just have to come to LA and see some of the slammed Chevy Tahoes some folks around here drive. However, some of these guys do a really good job at doing it w/o making it look really stupid.

nuthin wrong with lowering an suv. its their car and if they want to lower it more power to them. people ask me why i lifted a 4runner, i say who cares! my car my choice.

not everyone has to have a lifted SUV. some keep it stock, some lower it. and not everyone goes offroading on SUVs, so they modify it to handle better on paved roads, like lowering it and getting wider tires.

you might ask, "then why dont these people just get smaller cars?" maybe they like the look of the SUV, plus they can use it to carry more passengers, and more of their belongings. also, in 4runners, you can put a big ass speaker in the very back.

havent you ever seen a lowered expedition, escalade, denali, or other suvs? they look really nice esp with 20+" rims on them.

but alee27 is right...its their car, so let them do what they want. cant please everyone.

Nice Runner dope. Noticed you say it rides harsh...what kind of shocks you runnin'? It almost does'nt look lowered with the 20's...yeah Bob, I've seen some insane dropped trucks and some funny huge rimmed ones with no drop... your's looks good dope. How much was the springs and lateral rod?

I'm glad you guys/gals like my ride. The springs were about $550 US and the lateral rod was around $400. My current setup is with the stock shocks/struts, which is probably why my ride is harsher than it should be. My previous ride was a 95 Grand Cherokee, which was lifted with 31 inch swampers, so I decided to try the street setup with my 4runner.

And there are some on the west that don't! I think people were questioning a drop because I'd bet that most people on Yotatech take their rigs up rather than down. But we obviously have an audience for the lowering thing here too.

Like others have said, its not my thing, but hey its your rig.

There may be a bigger lowering crowd at this site.
