2 Seater 1st Gen 4runners?

Who has one?

I hear that a cargo model was offered with no rear seats. Yet, I've never seen one. If you got one, post pics of the inside for my inquiring mind. I am just curious if The floor changes at all.

I have seen one(sorry no pics). The back of the 4runner looks like a truck bed.

I only saw them in the dealership. When I ended up buying my truck, I looked at the new 4Runners as well. In '84-85 (and maybe later), the rear seat was a $300 dealer installed option. In later years, the seat was dealer installed, but no longer an option.

i've got one. i don't have a digital camera, so i can't post a pic, but the inside looks mostly like a truck bed. there's a little indentation where the seat would bolt in. i actually like having the intentation because when i put my bike in the back, it lays flat because the handlebar can fit right in there. i think it's great to have just a 2 seater - never get stuck giving people rides, and theres lots of space for all my gear.

I feel ya. I was just wondering because mine only had 2 seats when I bought it and it didn't have any places for belts. I put 4runner seats in it and put belts in. I'm not sure if it originally had seats or not.
I notice that you said yours is an 89. I think they stopped making the 2 seater by 85 or 86, maybe yours and mine just "lost their seats"

Either way it's cool.

i didn't know that they stopped making the 2 seater so early, i just thought it was something they did for all first gens. i just figured mine was a 2 seater from the start. there are no places for belts in mine. in my friend's sr5, there's a cutout in the side panel where the belt goes in. in mine, the side panel is completely solid. maybe there's a way to check the vin or something to see if it was a 2 seater.

Mine was exactly like yours. I think that the SR5 had the cool seatbelt spot on the sides...and maybe our DLX's just attach near the seat mounts.

I think some telltale signs might be:

If there are seatbelt screw holes and seat screw holes around that indentation(Mine had all of them)

If the carpet stops at the indentation(Where a seat might cover it)-mine did.

I found some link on this (I think it was the 4runner FAQ) and it mentioned all of the 1st gen options and it said they stopped the 2 seater early on. I have a feeling that a true 2 seater doesn't have the indentation.

I spoke to the guy I bought my truck from yesterday. Sure enough he had a seat back there, but because he never put the top on the weather beat it up and he threw it out.

If you want a seat, I'm sure you can add it. I got mine at www.car-parts.com My seat is grey out of an 88 Runner and it was in excellent condition. That website basically connects to all of the salvage yards around the country. Great site if you need other stuff as well.
