Install was pretty straight-forward.

The truck drives like a dream. Not too stiff, but so much better than stock. Feels like it's more solid too, not so wishy-washy on the freeway or over small undulations in the road.

You know... I've been pondering going back to my stock wheels, and I think I just might. I don't think they look bad at all with the bigger tires. Your truck is looking good man!

I was actually thinking about getting new wheels.

but then they woudl just get fubar'd wheeling...so I'll keep the stockers until they are toast.

Get a set of cheap steelies and put some MTs on those and keep some ATs on the stockers... thats what I think i'm going to end up doing... that way the heavier cheaper wheels are used less (less rotational weight, hell the bigger tires are enough!) and ATs are much better for DDs...

265/75 would be a good size, with some 8" rims. 4" backspacing... would be wider stance.

285's will rub.

I'm rolling 265/75 on stock Tacoma rims now...

I'm thinking 275/70 or 285/75....

then I'll need new rims...damn this truck!!!

Is there anyway you could post a pic of the whole truck. That is the same lift I'm going to put on soon but I can't decide between the camburgs or the donahos. How is the rear with the new deavers i have heard that the ride is a lot better.

275/70/16's are shorter than 265/75/16's.

I would go with some aggressive (M/T) 265/75/16's and get a wider wheel.

I'd do a body lift and get the 285s... Easiest 2" youll ever deal with... $130 and under 2hrs and you have room for 285s maybe even 33s...

another thing, you won't NEED new wheels with the bigger tires. All you will need is a .5"-1" wheel spacer which will also get you that wider stance and you won't rub with the stock wheels. Thats if you want to go that direction. But honestly I would keep the stock wheels with the smaller tires, do the body lift and then get some MTs and put them on some steelies... Then you don't have to deal with spacers and you will have the street set to save gas and also have better ware, then when you want to look badass or when you want to go wheeling you'll have the MTs. In which case I would get the Firestone Destination MTs. Thats going to be my next purchase.

I'll get some pics today. I'll host them somewhere because the size limit here is SMALL. The Deavers give exactly 1.5" lift in the rear. Overall, the truck rides SO much better. A little firmer, better handling and adjustable.

I liked the Camburgs because it seemed like they needed to be rebuilt the least out of all the coilovers. Plus, the price was right from Wheelers.

I did a 3" Revtek lift in Feb and am now replacing the front lift spacers with the Donahoe coilovers, because I blew out a front shock and wasn't that impressed with the spacers. YOu get what you pay for. I also went from the stock 31" Goodyears to 285/75R16's BFG/MT's on 4.25" basckspacing rims. With a 3" lift, the front rubbed on the back edge of the front and back fender flares, the front inner wheel liners and with the wheels cranked all the way over I do get a bit of frame rub with minor articulation. I have the tires and wheels already so I am going to make it work but maybe if I had it to do again I would go with a slightly shorter tire. The added ground clearance is really nice to have though.

Hope this helps you decide. I am putting the coilovers in this weekend and can send some pictures if that helps also. I learned about this forum after I had started doing my modifications. I wish I had known about it before all the time and money. Now I am doing re-work to build it right.

Have you or are you planning on getting regeared?
265/75/16 is as far as I can go w/o regearing. At this current size I can already feel a little lack of power and I can't imagine going any larger...

No, I have not regeared it yet and am not sure I will. I can tell that I lost power but when I did the full K&N intake and the 2.5" Gibson ixhaust kit, it really woke up the 3.4 V6, 5-speed. It rev's much more freely and seems to like the higher rpms now. It is a daily driver in addition to a trail truck. No high speed desert or extreme rock crawling stuff for me. Maybe I need to ride in a Taco w/ the same size tires and gears to see the light of gearing but as for now it doesn't seem too bad. 4 LO with the rear locked I have not been in a situation that it seemed under powered. I think that I will need to upgrade the clutch before the gears.
