1st mpg test of my trickety
198.3 mi on 10.9 gal = 17.8 mpg for a 182k mi 92 v6.
whoosh! i was scared of your 14mpg claims here. maybe it's because i shift at 2500rpm when i'm concious about it.

My truck got 20mpg the last time I checked. The gas pedal is always floored when I get the chance. I seem to get better fuel economy driving 75mph or higher. No kidding. My original engine lasted over 280,000 miles with a lead foot so this new engine will not get spared.
Although my CEL isn't coming on, I'm getting a code for the TPS. The TPS was just thrown on without any adjusting when I put on the new t-body. I think if I was to adjust the TPS, I might gain a bit more mileage. Will I?

Might be that it being the way it is now works better... if you have a 3.0 with that auto you are the first one I've heard of getting more than 15mpg...

I was getting around the same mpg as ken.vs.ryu at that mileage too on the original engine. When I got to around 260,000 miles, the fuel economy went down to the 16 mpg range.

I use to get around 11 to 12 mpg in my '91 V6 with auto tranny, but now I am getting 14 + all the time.
This is combined city/freeway driving.
I actually get better mileage than that though since my speedo is off.
It is off from the 31" tires since the rig came with the puny 225s I believe.
These rigs with the auto tranny and 4 doors do not get the best mpg.
Oh, before I use to run 91 octane all the time, but do to a crappy job and the price of fuel, I now run mid grade, 89 octane.
I do ping on it sometimes, but I think the engine is burning it better, hence the better mpg now.

high of 27mpg drafting at 60mph leaving nashville for florida and
low of 12 mpg in city redlining every gear and every green light.

I'm getting 17 to 18 with 80% city driving and a couple short offroad trips on each tank.. got 31's and 4.10 gears. Unfortunately it goes down in the winter by a few mpg's

Two updates:
1) 14.8 mpg : lots of unnecessary idling during this tank (waiting at the fast food drive throughs at lunch all week , idling to get the heater warmed up in the now 40 degree lows here in Georgia, etc.)
2) 18.6 mpg : now running on 10W-30 instead of 10W-40 to get ready for winter
Ditto. I had the puny tires and they couldn't grab anything so I went to 31's.
