1st Gen S/C question....

Hi all,

I've got a first gen S/C which was installed by the dealership a looong time ago. When workin in my engine bay the other day, I became curious as to some of the conections that were made upon installation. Please look at the picture below (not of my truck, but another yotatech members - I hope that's ok):

My questions: (1) The boost port is the nipple coming out from under the bridge, correct?
(2) What is this black thing that the boost port line is connected to?
(3) What is the other nipple on the back of the s/c in this picture - the one up higher with the black line attached to it, and what's it's function?

The wierd thing is that my truck doesn't have any of these same connections. On mine, what I think is the boost port is connected to this other nipple up higher on the back of the S/C. And the round black box T's into a tangle of other lines on the opposite side of the S/C. It's perplexing to me that our setups could be this different. I'll try to post pics later tonite of what I'm talking about. Thanx for all the help,

Brad

Ask Gadget. He'd be your best source...

The black thing controls boost, err whether the motor gets it or not. The thing in the back (I'm guessing) looks like an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, maybe TRD, I don't know cuz I've never seen one. For your inquiries, check this out:

heliax,

Wow, that was helpful. Once again Gadget saves the day. Wouldn't you know it though, the dealership installed my s/c incorrectly and I'm just now figuring it out. I guess the misconnected lines didn't really have much if any effect, but I'll know for sure when I reroute everything.

The way Toyota hooked mine up is that the round black "boost controller" is T-ed into my EVAP line instead of connected to the nipple under the bridge at the back of the s/c as in the pic above. Evidently this is alright - as per Gadget, but that nipple instead of just being capped off is now connected to the boost port.
I'm gonna change it and do the free FMU regardless but I was just wondering if anyone knew if this situation was problematic?
Thanx again for your responses,

Brad
