1st Gen Brush Guards

Well I have had no luck with finding a Brush/Grille guard for my 1st Gen 4runner. I know you guys are going to tell me try ARB or TJM...but I don't have that kind of money to spend on a bumper...I just want some protection. But anyway, I came across this site http://www.trueradius.com/html/toyota.html and was wondering if anyone knew something about the company? Or even if any 1st Gen owners had any ideas?!

Have you tried summitracing.com yet? I'd try there. The westin safari bar, designed for the newer trucks should fit on our 1st gens. My dad bought it and for grins we held it up to my truck. The bottom looked like it lined up with the tow hooks. There is also smittybuilt that might have some. I don't know who has them, but there is also the classic bruiser bars. The dual tube bumpers that are like 2" thick. My choice was an Explorer Pro Comp light bar, but then, I am a sucker for prerunner styling. They are out there, just need to turn over a few rocks

take a look at my bumper. I know a guy who welds, and did this for me. He might be willing to do it for you (I'd have to ask him) and it only cost me$400 for that and the sliders! Let me know (BTW this thing is welded to the frame, and pulled out a fullsize suburban from some thick mud)

Deathcougar, that thing looks sweet! I like the angles of the bars going down to the frame. I take it you had to have the powder coating done later, so it came out to $600 or so?

smittybilt makes them, i think. never heard much good stuff about brush guards though, people always say that they cause more damage than they prevent in a crash

the $400 price included the sliders. I did not powder coat them as it would just scratch off, so it was $400 flat, and I painted the bumper with 7 coats of cheap paint. BTW if you plan on doing any 4wheeling, dont go smittlybuilt. They are POS bumpers that dont hold up to anything. They are very weak and very thin. Ill look into it for you, but you'll have to come up to Monroe for it. Im not sure if he can do it though, cause he uses his tools at work, but like I said, I will definetly check for you.

$400 and its yours, I talked to the guy who amde it. He has one done already. He would charge about 50-100 to install the bumper, depending on the condition of your frame.

I have a guy building me some stuff. He is making my roof rack, then we are going to work on bumpers and sliders.

Mytyota: if you are still wanting to rid yourself of that front bumper, let me know, I may just get it from you.
