1ST Gen Bed measurements

Can any one out there with a first gen short bed pickup tell me the inside and outside bed measurements. The reason I ask is I have a long bed and I want to put a cap on it, but no one seems to make one for the long bed. So I guess its time to bob it, but I would like to know in advance if I can bob it that much and have the measurements to do it. Any help is as always appreciated.

i've got a longbed cap

in fact, i've seen lots of them, but i'm guessing this day and age you're not going to find much in the "new" department for our trucks

Is it for sale? How much? Where are you?

I recently measured my '83 short bed and it was 73.5 inches long and 59 inches wide. This measurement was outer bed rail edge to outer bed rail edge. Since it's a standard 6foot bed, then I guess that means my rails are .75 inches wide.

72" Long (75" allowing room for edges) x 57" Wide (60" allowing room for edges)

i ahve seen TONS of caps for the longbed.... very few for the shortbed

also a cap will fit the domestic or japan beds....
