A friend of my dad has a '99 tacoma with the 4 cylinder (i believe 2.7L). Ever since it got colder (januaryish) it has been running rough. About 3 weeks ago he got ran off the road and hit a sign. He let it sit for about 2 weeks recently, and now it will not start/run. Sometimes it will start, run for a few seconds, then die. Other times it will just turn over. It has fuel pressure and the filter was changed about 30,000 miles ago. The O2 sensor was found hanging by the wire (maybe due to accident?). I was wondering what could be going on here? Any help would be appreciated. I know more about the 3rd gen pick-ups, and not so much about the tacoma.

with the 02 sensor just chillin, that could be helping in the problem. have him check his cold start injector, sounds like its running waaaay too rich and thus killing it. just a thought

Thanks for the response. What should I check as far as the cold start injector? The injector itself or the switch that tells the injector what to do?
