1999 4runner SR5 - whats it worth?
Used car dealer. KBB puts it at 15.5 retail, they are asking 16.5:
70k miles, fairly clean
5 speed
black
no sports package
Not sure on the locker
CD player
does the sports package include the grey/carbon looking cluster or is that on all the 99s? Would I be lowballing if I stuck at 14.5-15k and wouldnt pay a cent more? Edited to add: Oh, and whats the deal with the hood scoop? was it an option on 99s?
Thanks guys,
Alex

$14,500 would be my top dollar if it's 4wd. I only paid a little more than that for my '99 4x4 V6 5spd with 55k miles back in 2002. Sit on it for a while, they have a hard time selling 5spds. Hit them up on the last couple of days of the month and I'll bet they will deal more.

Very nice price. Ill do my best to talk them down. The only other 99 5 spd around here has 39k on it and they are asking 19,999 (dealer)
Did you buy yours from a dealer? does it have the grey faced gauges?
nm on that, found the FAQ
Thanks for your help!

is it 2wd or 4wd? i was in your position just a few months ago, i ended up buying a 99 sr5 highlander 2wd w/ 70k for 12,900. i would also look at the nada guide for pricing as well, because they vary between kbb and nada. also what other options are on it? as far as the hood scoop they came on the 99-02 highlander or sports package models only.

Considering my pricerange is 16k max, and I thought the M3s were overpriced, im going nuts here

When I was shopping for my 4Runner, the sticker price was $12999 (w 150k miles!!) I got it down to $9600. Spotless, not a scratch, perfect condition.
$10500 out the door. I've yet to see a price like that on ebay for one thats ACTUALLY CLEAN.
I'm betting you can get out for about $13700, try it. The worst that can do is say no, then you say no- any the meet you halfway.
Have them throw in some pretty new black pearl emblems or something you really want. Although, it is harder to deal in merchandise on a used car.

According to my window sticker the sport package consisted of sport bucket seats, 265/70/16 tires, bigger brakes, 4.10 gears, etc.... it was a ~$3500 option. No hood scoop or dash gauges were in it.

My bad, I just looked at the sticker again and it's not a sport package, just an upgrade package with the word "sport" sprinkled throughout. 3rd Gens look too pretty as it is, with a scoop they are total garage queens

I agree with waiting until the end of the month. I got mine in the end of the month about a year ago. I left them after they didn't go low enough and they called and met me halfway again (sales were slow). These guys add 4000$ or more to the price so you should easily be able to lower the price. I bet the 4wd with 39K can go for under 16K. Also check out the TMV price on Edmunds, and don't pay more than private party they still got it cheaper in trade in and only did a simple check up.
