1999 4runner

Alright, new here, got a lot of catching up to do sometime. Here is the situation I am currently in: Want to get a used 4runner, below are the specs. I have heard good things about them and my father and uncle have both owned Toyotas. They have been great vehicles for them.

I am not looking at a 4x4 for now, as this is definitely a road vehicle purchase at the moment. So,

1999 4runner, SR5 2wd
V6
122k miles
One owner
Great physical condition
Leather

Any thoughts, suggestions, things to look for?

Thanks

Edit: Oh, and right at $7k. Good? Ok?

Depends on the actual condition of the truck. Carfax for sure at that price. 2WD trucks around here for for 10k+, so if carfax is clear and the truck is MINT, gobble it up.

And as always, be sure to test EVERYTHING on the truck. YOU are the buyer, so its your right to make sure everything is working.

Ok, thanks. I will see what I can dig up on the ride. I really expect it to be clean as I am from a small, closely knitted community here but nonetheless, I understand the potential ramifications of "glossing over" the basics. It is a very good looking (not freshly painted good looking) vehicle. The only thing is it has some miles on it, which may not even be a concern, but my background in American cars is what's getting to me. That, combined with my father's '94 Pickup head gasket was just wondering some opinions on the subject.

I was also wondering if such a purchase would be a wise choice as a road vehicle due to the mileage already present. I know this is no Chevrolet and somewhat-high to higher-mileage is not uncommon for Toyota vehicles, but I was just wondering some opinions on this that may be of concern, perhaps with this specific year model, engine ('95 head gaskets), etc. As I have never owned a Toyota before myself, what are the reasonable expectations as far as mileage goes? Say oil changes were regular and consistent.

Thanks again

A 1999 4Runner for $7000??? WOW, I'd buy that thing in a second. I'd want one with a salvage title, though. It takes a couple grand off the price tag, and I know what to look for.

I bought my runner for 6300 but it needed brakes, tires, shocks and steering rack bushings which I'm doing tomorrow. besides it being filthy inside. it was a great buy with 121000 miles on it. 2.7 and 4wd

Ok, thanks folks. The only thing we are worried about is trading her car now (Nissan) with ~170k miles for the Toyota with 122k.
