1997 Limited Catalytic Converter

Hi guys, I have a 1997 4Runner Limited. I was told by the shop that my cat pressure is below %5 something like that. Apparently my cat is causing a back pressure which is causing my lag in throttle response I guess. I was quoted around $500-$600 to have the Cat replaced.

So I looked around and Googled for CAT for my 4Runner and ran into different pics. One is just that of a CAT then one is that with a CAT and extensions.

Can someone tell me the correct CAT I should install in my 4Runner and is this something I and a friend can do? So I can save some money at least. I've been laid off for 2 months and finding some ways to save some $$$ where I can.

Thanks for reading.

P.S. I'm located in Austin Texas

I just replaced mine with a magnaflow aftermarket cat and it works great. Here is a link for your year:

It's super easy to install, five bolts and the 02 sensor are all you need to deal with.

Go with an aftermarket one, I had an aftermarket installed after my vw crapped its cat and it only cost 200 to get it installed.
