I've been driving by this rig for about 2 months at the local Jeep dealer. I finally stopped and took a look at it.

It's a dark taupe/bronze color on top with the charcoal on the bottom. Oak leather, auto tranny, nice looking paint, 98k miles (forgot to check for the locker switch, but I don't think it had it).

It needed a driver side headlight assembly. The housing had a big bullseye and it had water in it. Other than that, it looked pretty good (in the rain anyway)

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I'm hoping for a decent trade value.

What would you pay for something like this? KBB says $13k retail and $10,300 private party. Should it be somewhere in the middle?

it should be... however, dealers really jack up prices and kbb, isnt that accurate... get a local trucktrader publication and compare that way....or look at similar models in the area as well

Also, with it having sat on the lot for 2 months, you may have some negotiating room. Don't know about your area, but out here the dealers often dump them off to wholesale lots after 90 days or so. You might be able to get a low end price if they're pushing up against that time frame.

It really depends on the value of your Heep trade-in value. I would definitely think you'd come out ahead and since it has been sitting on the Jeep lot a while and that you are trading in a Jeep, things should be in your favor!

Good luck in getting rid of that Jeep!

Swung by today to see it. It has the rear locker and BFG AT's with about 1/2 of their life left.

I'll find out later today. My wife and I were discussing it and she's sort of poo-pooing it since she sees anything the same size as the JGC a lateral move. I had her talked into a LC 80 prior to seeing this Runner so it looks like we may still head that direction. If the Runner can be had for a smokin' deal and I can get out of the Heep painlessly, then this decision gets a little more difficult.

In Colorado where Runners have excellent resale value that one would go for about $13k easily so anything under is good plus it's got a locker and decent tread.

Get a Land Cruiser 80 Series with FR/RR locking differentials. You will regret it if you did not get the LC to replace your heep. 94-97 LCs prices are getting low every year and I'm pretty sure you will get one with a low mileage. I just saw one on ebay yesterday, burgundy and with lockers. I have a 97 LX 450 and I'm still hunting for a 97 40th anniversary edition in a sage color with lockers. Go LC and you won't look back, just my .02 cents.

That's the one I want too. I'm also partial to blue metallic of which I found a sweet 97.

I'm pretty sure the 4R has more intererior space than the GC, but I could be wrong. Not to knock the 80, because you may have your heart set on it, but . . . the 80 is a real gas hog, especially if you mod it at all. Also have you ever driven one? They're a fair amount larger than the 4R so that may be a plus/minus depending on what size vehicle you like driving.

I had heard that the mileage was so-so on the LC's. My JGC gets about 15 in town - 21 or so on the highway. The Runner is much worse, so I'm no stranger to crappy mileage.

Actually, the size of the LC is just right IMO. My wife has be lobbying for a Suburban and other various whales. I got her down to a Sequoia, but something like that isn't in the finances just yet. The LC is the next best thing IMO. Plus, if I get it with lockers, when she's done with it, it would be mine to mod and wheel.

I talked to the dealer with the 97 Runner Limited today. They are asking $13,700. We'll see where this goes...
