1995 OBD1 Tacoma CEL not flashing when pins jumped.
I've got a 1995 OBD1 Tacoma that the CEL is on in.
I tried to jump the pins in the diagnostics plug to read the code from the CEL flashing, but it just stays on constant!
Any ideas what would cause that? I'm trying to find a scanner to scan it but am cusrious why it is staying on and not displaying the code?
Any help would be appreciated! tips/suggestions/ideas etc.
Thanks!

There is no such thing as an OBD 1 Tacoma. You'll find the OBD 2 plug under the dash near the hand brake. Any normal OBD2 scanner will work.
The "diagnostic" box you've found is for the dealer tools only.

Really?! wow.. excuse my ignorance..
So a 95 is still considered OBD2?
I'm new to the Tacoma's and apparently need to read up more before posting in the forums.
Thanks scuba.. I'll take a closer look and see if I can fix the problem!

Although the general cutoff for obd1/2 was 1996, obd2 was popping up a couple years before that in certain models/ manufacturers.
If you truly have a 1995.5 Tacoma, then yes it is obd2. The way I describe finding the obd2 plug is.. Put your hand on the e brake... Then move your hand forward and down on the dash plastic.. At the very bottom when the dash platic ends, you'll see the port peeking out.. Almost like a turtle head maybe..
Good luck.

update:
So although the my Tacoma was manufactured in 01/95 it is indeed OBDII. The scanner port was right where you said it was.
I borrowed a scanner from my buddy and it was throwing the code P0340 -Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction.
I took a closer look at the camshaft position sensor wiring (leading to the front of the distributor area) and noticed there was a broken wire.. Cleaned up all the wiring and re-connected the broken wire..re-soldered /heat shrinked and taped up the harness.
Cleared the engine code with the scanner and fired up the truck and the CEL is gone.
Thanks again for your help scuba.
