1995 4runners, please check in, need info/help

My 95 4runner, as stated in my other thread, blew a head gasget and its gonna cost me 2500 at most to fix it.

Two different dealerships ran my VIN and both said my car wasnt applicable for the recall.

my car is a 1995 toy. 4runner 4x2 V6 3.0l.

If you have a 1995 please list the specs that i have listed and if you have had the recall or if yours was/is applicable or not? i want to fight this but have nothing to fight with...

Knee deep....

Im a 94 so I cant help you with the year, but call your regional toyota manager or as high up as you can. Also, find out what year your motor was acually produced. Mines got sticker on it from 1993 and I think it says 1993 on it somewhere. Its possible you could have the old style head gasket and your motor slipped through the cracks. Im sure they built your motor from the first availible parts. But I would go above your dealership. Theres a 1800 number too you can call. All the dealer computers are going to give you the same answer that they are programed to do, so I would say go a step higher in your search. If youve got over 7gs left in payments I would do anything I could to see if toyota will take the bill.

FYI

I just put up the telephone # on the YotaTech on the Web page.
The # is at the very bottom.

The dealership I work for here in San Diego owns a toyota dealer also. I spoke to the service manager there and he said mine was questionable. He said when they have a late production date it is done at the dealers discresion.

When I bought mine, I had the dealer run the VIN to see if the headgaskets had ever been done. He said no, but it was produced after the recall.

Now I have my fingers crossed.

Good luck on yours...And remember, the more noise you make, the sooner they decide to hold up their end.

Same with mine. Mine was made in May of 95 if I remember right, and everyone I have called has said it isn't eligible.

I never pushed about my 95 3.0 4X2 (built in 12/94) when I thought I heard that the recall didn't count for those built after mid 94 so I didn't worry about it. But I did get a new head gasket and water pump when they replaced the timing belt at 60k, and all I paid for was the belt......soooo now I'm not so sure.

My fingers are crossed for you!!!

Also to all on the board, Have a Happy Mardi Gras!!!

Ok, mines a 95, made in summer of 95. According to its VIN, it had headgskt done at port of entry, I had it checked by various dealers and they said same thing.
4 yrs ago at around 72K miles it was at a dealer for another reason and they did exhaust in the coolant test and it was positive. So head gaskets were done a second time under the recall and I got a free rental car for a few days.
