Question 1990 Toyota 4Runner Factory Repair Manual Mystery

Hi everyone, here is a mystery.. so bear (or bare) with me
I recently aquired 1990 Toyota 4Runner factory Repair manuals, Volume 1 and 2. Volume 1 is for the engine and is fine. It is the Volume 2 that contains the mystery.

Volume 2, publication number RM143U2, is supposed to contain everything but the engine. It says so in all Toyota literature, and even in the book itself on the front pages. BUT, MY Vol.2 only contains transmissions! Yes, it is the correct publication number.

Every reference in other materials says, see Vol 2 RM143U2 for repair info on, say, brakes and body electrical. But, my Vol 2 does not contain anything about brakes, body or electrical, only transmissions. The book contradicts itself even, as I have already mentioned above, as on one of the front pages it says it contains something it does not.
.
Does anyone own the same books? Does anyone know what is going on? it is hard for me to believe Toyota would screw up so badly. I thought I got the most complete reference available for 1990 4Runner repairs. I was wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Well, the mystery is partially solved, anyways. I called Toyota Repair Manuals line, and, apparently, there is such a thing as Volume 3, publication RM143U3, that no one even heard about. Even the people at Toyota thought Volume 2 contained everything, until they did some research. The mystery still is why every single Toyota source says Volume 2 contains everything you need, and makes no mention of volume 3. Each of these books is 50 bucks, by the way! They make you believe $100 buys you all the systems, well, be prepared to shell out $50 more. In fact, it is the third book that contains most of the systems!
I am trying to get reimbursement from Toyota, since this borders on false advertisement.

Just so, if you are thinking about buying factory repair manuals for your 1990 4Runner, here is what you need:

Vol 1 RM143U1 ENGINE
Vol 2 RM143U2 TRANSMISSIONS, CLUTCH AND TRANSFER
Vol 3 RM143U3 EVERYTHING ELSE

There is also repair manual supplement and electical wiring diagram book

If you buy all of the above, plan to spend around $200, individually $50 for vol 1 2 3, and $20 or so a piece for supplements

They must have split book 2. I have seen the 2 volume set for my buddies 4Runner and it had "all" in vol 2. What are the print dates?

Thanks, that's indeed what happened. I ordered Vol 3 and now I think I have everything. Don't have them in front of me to check print dates, but I believe it is fairly recent. So nice of Toyota to claim one thing, and then do something else alltogether.
