Rob,
tell us generalities about it. All I've seen are sketches and renderings of it and the FJ. Which part of Toyota do you work for?

yeah, that's just a test mule. 4R front with tundra or T100 bed.
From what I saw, I like the Tacoma front end better than the 4R. It looks more aggressive.

Rob,
They won't bust you unless you post a pic. C'mon and at least tell us your impressions and the styling differences between the 4R and Taco or how it evolved from the current Taco.

So does this mean that the new Taco is going to be an auto only, like the new Runners? That would suck.

Any word on the 4.5 V8? Is this from a new "family" of engines?

Highly doubt that they'll add the v8 to the tacoma mix as the tundra uses the same engine....
most likely the new v8 engine will go towards the tundra and then eventually streamline the old v8 engine to the tacoma...

a 4.5L V8, why would Toyota waste their time making an engine 2 liters smaller then the 4.7 I-Force
I would say the next gen Tacoma would get the 4.7 but hard to say if it would be something like the 4Runner where they make it available from the start or maybe they would hold it off a year or 2 until the next version of the I-Force comes out that will be 5.X cause then the 4.7 would be the smaller version so it could be used.Nissan's Frontier is suppost to be the size of a Dakota with a V8 options so Toyota can't lack, nomore Tundra mistakes get it right the 1st time The people at the dealerships only know what comes off the trucks and that they sell, the Nissan dealer I use to do business with did not know anything till it was in front of their faces

Anybody know if there's any talk of doing a pass-thru gate like the avalanche on the new DoubleCab?
Does " built off the 4Runner platform " mean that it'll have coils in the back instead of leafs?

kinda like BMW, not so much into HP numbers as they are into performance numbers of fast times but they should just go all out and do like 400hp, 20000lb tow rating, 8 foot bed and TRD would make quad Turbos of course it's coming from the factory with a 6 inch lift on 22's 0-60 in 4.8 top speed of 155 but you can order a shark chip to do away with that

I have heard that with the next generation Tundra will have a superduty with a bigger V8 and compete directly with the big three.

They deffinately need to have a v-8 available for everything and an even bigger v-8 for the tundra. Thats one reason I would never buy a tundra they have boat anchor performace compared with other fullsizes.

Hey Rob,
Can you talk some of the big wigs into importing some turbo diesels? I'm sure you could find a market over here for some of those things. |

c'mon guys-
you all know that a 4.5L has existed for a while...(landcruiser?? ring any bells??). Not to say that the 4.7 from the sequoia, tundra and 4th gen runner could be an option, but i don't see a reason why the 4.5L couldn't be as well. Just my .2 cents...and for who ever posted "353" in regards to the 5.6L block being spoken about, he was referring to size with the "350" cubic dimension, not horsepower. Peace. Billy |
