'04 Taco DCAB caliper bigger than '02?

Hi,

I drive an '04 Tacoma Doublecab. I am trying to fit the Rockcrawlers series 97 15x8 on but it is rubbing against the calipers. These wheels have a backspacing of 3.75". There are other Tacoma owners more specifically, '01 and '02 with ABS, that can get these wheels to fit without a hitch. My question is, are the calipers on the '04 bigger than the previous years? If this is the case, can I swap my calipers with an '02 or '01 Tacoma with ABS?

Did this affect both Extra Cab and Double cabs? There is someone on the TTORA forum saying he got these exact wheels to fit on his '04 Ext Cab and I have the Double cab.

I think the type 97 wheels will hit on all years. The problem is the steel that is pushed behind the center when they punch the holes in the centers. That is not the problem with the 87 centers.

they warp very easily and yes the xtera cab prerunners and 4x4's and the double cabs are affected
this acording to local toyota stealer service manager who doesn't mind passing on info he isn't supposed to

my advice to the guys with an 01 or 02 is to upgrade to bremo rotors and calapers. awsome proven brakes have been around for a couple decades and have enough volume to keep the prices resonable.
