03 4Runer v.s. Murano? Anyone drive both?
I have narrowed the vehicle to replace my SC'd 4 Runner down to either the new 4Runner, or the Nissan Murano. I am not concerned with off-road capability and will likely get the 2wd of whichever version I get. I have had my current truck off-road a few times, but by "off-road" I mean "dirt-road".
Has anyone here driven both? And can you give me your impressions? I'm a little scared of the CVT in the Murano, but Nissan has a good rep for quality. They are both similarly priced, with the 4Runner in the lead given that you can get the V8 for the about the same price as the Murano V6.
Thanks for any input.
Mike

I think the pilot is bigger than the murano... that's the only reason why i brought up the pilot idea...
the murano is like a raised version of a station wagon... or so it looks like it from the outside
atleast the pilot has more of a suv kinda look to it!

You're probably thinking…oh no, not another SUV! Wrong…it's not just another SUV. Yes, it looks like one and has the practicality of an SUV, but we think the new Murano is closer to a Maxima than say, a Pathfinder. Dare we say a sports car-like SUV? Too far-fetched? Hang on and you'll understand our rationale…

murano?
The murano sucks, how could you even compare the two? You should know by now that TOYOTA ROCKS. If the guys at nissan were any dummer you'd have to water them twice a week.

There are quite of few of those Murano's on the road here in Japan. I didn't even know what they were until I saw the picture in this thread.
They're tiny and that little back window is about the size of an old vent window
Buy a 4Runner dude. You won't regret it.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but oh well.
I like Nissans and Toyotas equally. Mainly because I have both a Nissan Xterra and a 4Runner, and they're both awesome trucks, and both are quality trucks.
As far as a Murano or a new 4Runner... I personally would get the 4Runner. If I could of afforded it, I would of gotten a new 4Runner instead of my Xterra. But I haven't regreted it. I guess it just comes down to which you like more. I've heard some really great things about the Murano (the CVT is supposed to be awesome) and I've also heard great things about the new 4Runners. I personally don't think it's really fair to compare the two, simply because they're so different.
It just comes down to whether you want a more sports car/luxury type of SUV (Murano) or a more rugged sport SUV (4Runner).
Personally I don't think you can go wrong with either, because from my experience both Nissan and Toyota make great trucks.

The Murano cannot be compared to the 4Runner. They are in different classes. You need to compare it to the Highlander and the Lexus RX330 and the Pilot. The 4Runner should be compared to the Pathfinder, Trailblazer, Explorer, etc. Hope this helps.

If you aren't interested in off-road, get the Murano. I wouldn't buy one, but only because I want to go offroad. I actually like how the Murano looks. Don't get a 4Runner if you aren't looking for a real truck-suv. Don't let these guys flame you into submission, get the Murano you won't regret it.

Actually if you want a good street SUV, you should get an Infinity FX45. My brother just got one and it is sweet!!! Myself, I love my '03 4Runner........especially over the Nissan.
