Check your shifter seat and bushing first

these are were the springs are (marlin sells heavy duty ones I would if you go this route) if you look under your truck you should be able to see these on your tranny. the tranny has two cases and this is between the two. Very easy to replace. Youl need some Allen's and a good magnet.

Could also be worn syncros but since its only 5th and its not a highly used gear i doubt that.

X2 on the shifter seat and bushing. Marlin sells that too!
